What Attracts You?

A post on Addie's "Fresh Hot Wastes of Time" about her 100 000'th visitor (Congrats again Addie!) lead me to check out my stats counter (to see my paltry total of 4829 Unique visitors since May 2005). While I was there I thought I'd take a look at my referrals to see where you all came from, and what you want to see more of.

First we'll start with where you're all from. Out of the last 100 unique visitors, 31 of you are from the U.S, 11 of you are from the UK, 10 of you are from N.Z, and the rest of you form a large cross section of this world's population. I've had visitors from Dubai, Mexico, Germany, Korea, Australia, Portugal, Romania, Uruguay, Brazil, Greece - all over the place.

In each country there are a vast amount of ISPs in use, but the stand out by far is comcast in the U.S, followed by Telecom in New Zealand.

32% of my readers use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, follwed by 30% on MSIE 6.0. Firefox 2.0 is used by 23% of my unique visitors, with Firefox 1.5 used by 9%. Firefox 1.0.7 and Safari 1.2 is run by 2 % each, followed by Safari 1.0 and Mozilla 5.0 (upgrade you silly!) used by 1% of my visitors. Not surprisingly, Windows XP is the winner of the OS Wars on my blog, followed by Windows 2000, followed by MAC OSX, followed by two people on Vista. Funnily enough the Microsoft user engaged a Google Image search for photos of CRX Del Sols, instead of whatever MS equivalent there is (Windows Live Search?).

Finally for what we've all been waiting for. It seems what attracts most people to this blog is.....

Drum roll please!

Boobies!

It appears the most popular page on this blog is this little gem right here, in which I show a photo of a naked female breast (picture sourced from Wikipedia). Beware - Not Safe For Work! This post came about by foolishly asking a various males what my next blogging topic should be. Obvious answer for men - Boobies. I should have known!

Some of you might know about the feline tragedy that befell our household last week - our little kitten Tyson was hit by a car (perhaps, we're still not sure), and lost the use of his left legs and tail. After a couple of days in the vet, he regained the use of both legs, but still holds some damage to his Radial Nerve in the front paw. This has resulted in him not being able to use his front left paw as automatically as he could. When he thinks about it, he can walk perfectly, but if he gets distracted then he doesn't place his paw correctly, and either the leg gives way under him or he ends up taking a step on the joint above his paw. This is only intermittent, which gives us hope that he will regain full use of his legs in due course. His tail probably has to come off, but a tail amputation is nothing compared to the original possibility of double leg + tail amputation, as it was suggested that removing two legs would give cause to consider euthanasia.

So, Tyson's alive, and should retain all 4 limbs, and that is definitely something to be thankful for.

Redesign complete (I think)

Ok so I'm done with my redesign that I started an age ago (read: the very first entry) - I was up until nearly midnight last night trying to get my blog to be happy in both Firefox AND Internet Explorer *shakes fist at CSS*. At last, however, I think I'm done.

(Thanks to Matt, Chris, James and Ben for helping with my CSS issues).

The banner is pretty much a representation of me- the books, the love heart (because Matt hasn't approved any photos of him for my internet usage yet), the LV purse (to represent the finer things in life), the black shoe, the coffee stains and the car - all things I love. You'll see I've renamed the blog too, also to better suit my personality.

I'm constantly updating the links to other blogs I like, so don't forget to check them. The latest links on my sidebar include links to live motorway webcams in Auckland - so for all you people that think NZ is all about sheep and farming, check these out and see the traffic we have to sit in every day. For maximum impact, take a look between 4pm and 7pm NZST.

If you want to see more blogs by kiwis at home and abroad, head down to the footer of the page where you'll see a link to the kiwi blogs webring. Be sure to click on that! Also be sure to check out the graphic wonder of Number Six by my good friend Chris down in Wellington. The site is mostly pictorial, holding his own photography, original 3d art, and also images that he's found around the net.

Other than that, I've gotten rid of the blue column backgrounds to give the site a cleaner look. It now works in IE and Firefox, and is best viewed at a res of 1280 x 1024 or higher (any smaller and you'll need to scroll across).

That's all the changes so far (that I can remember)- next time I try to edit ANY CSS myself, someone slap me?!

I paid the price...

Only $12 in fact. $12 to get rid of the ad at the bottom of the haloscan entry box, and give me full customisation. I'm quite pleased with it really, $12 is a small price to pay to support non-corporates.

In fact, you can comment on this entry if you like. Yesterday I picked up on a couple of new games, and one in particular has jumped RIGHT into puzzling - I love puzzles :)

I got a call from 20/20 today, they're going to run with the female car enthusiasts story, and want to get moving on it in the next few weeks. I was rather hoping to avoid it all together, but will talk to Matt about it tonight and see what he thinks.
Yeah, I used his name. I'm sick of referring to him as "the b/f" or "hubby" (esp. when he's not my husband) - and there are a trillion "Matt"s in the world, so it's not like I'm giving away his identity or anything.
I'll be honest, I've never liked being infront of a camera, still or moving, and I especially don't like the idea of representing an entire group of people, especially one so controversially portrayed by the media, but I committed myself at the first meeting, so I can't very well pull out now. Luckily I won't need to clean the car at least, cos I polished it for the Auckland Autosalon, and it never comes out of the garage.

You'll notice the lack of book cover image on the right hand side beneath "Currently Reading". That's because I started to read the Iliad for the second time in my life, and have discovered that it's not a "read twice" book. It's one of those books that you read once, and keep for reference (and to make you look smart). It's payday tomorrow, so I might stop off at Borders and pick up Sense and Sensibility, in my effort to read more Classic novels. That should take me through to July 16...

I'm installing Haloscan today for trackbacks - not that anyone's likely to trackback any of my entries, but this post is solely to account for the crappy next post that will remain on my blog for the next 24 hours - I've tried doing that stupid auto install that haloscan's offering on beta, but when I try to delete the auto post they create to republish the blog, blogger deletes all changes made to my template. So the post will have to remain for 24 hours.

Oh, I'm SO turning comments off on this entry - I dont' feel like reading comments from people smarter than I to the tune of "why don't you just manually enter the code into your template?"

REDESIGN!!!

OK, after having spent most of the last month discussing opinions on various subjects, political, religious, and trivial alike- I've decided that it's time to get rid of the 'omg Bridget Jones is so cool' posts and redesign - and make an honest attempt at blogging.

I'm going to turn comments off on most of my posts because, to be honest, only MY opinion counts ( :P ) so if you've got something to say, up on the right is a link to my profile. Click on that, then click on that link that says 'Email' and send me an email with your thoughts.

Also I'm going to try and link this to my Bebo account which has a BUNCH of photos of mine and of my friends', and rather than mess around with Picasa and Hello (which, incidentally, suck ass for Google software), I would prefer just to leave my pics there.

For those of you using Bebo or Live Journal (ie, my friends), I can see you asking 'why not just stick with one?' - and there's a very simple answer: Blogger lets you customise pretty much the entire blog (except for the background and stuff), and it's pretty :)

So on to my redesign - once I'm done, you'll see how it looks, so there won't be any point in asking 'Hey Caro, how does it look?'.
